New and Renewed Affilites

Recent new and renewed Cultural Tourism DC affiliates include:

Evening of Indian Dance

Performing multiple Indian classical dance styles, IDEA presents Meghadoot The Cloud Messenger —an epic lyric poem written by Kalidasa in Sanskrit. Told from the perspective of a lover to his absent beloved, Meghadoot contains an extraordinary series of unparalleled and knowledgeable vignettes describing the mountains, rivers, and forests of northern India. Get tickets to see this production at The Barns of Wolf Trap on Saturday, November 18 at 8 pm.

Beneath the Surface

The Korean Cultural Center at Washington, DC presents Beneath the Surface, a new joint exhibition featuring Sui Park and DC-based Nara Park. The life-like and physical installations by two women artists bend our perceptions of nature, reality, and human beings' place in an increasingly superficial world.

The exhibition strives to present visitors with an opportunity to reflect on life and death, creation and dissolution, and on nature and humanity—all of which are important and present in our lives, but are often overlooked. Beneath the Surface is on view through November 30.

The Tomb of Christ

Be virtually transported to Jerusalem and discover the history of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in an immersive 3-D experience. Built in the fourth century, the tomb of Christ, or the Holy Edicule, has just undergone a historic restoration— a project featured on the National Geographic Channel. In the exhibition, learn about the restoration effort led by a team of conservation experts who used technologies including LIDAR, sonar, laser scanning, and thermal imaging to preserve this important site. See this exhibit at the National Geographic Museum on display until August 15, 2018.
