Tim McLoraine Artist Talk

Tim McLoraine began his creative work designing video for opera productions and classical music concerts. In addition to that work, he has developed a body of video art for installations and large scale projection. Join Tim and Jennifer Fleeger, professor of Media Studies at Ursinus College, in a discussion and Q&A session about his work currently on view at the Dupont Underground on Friday, January 19. A live performance from the talented musician Dante Pope will follow the lecture.

Out There: The Self Created Artist In DC

A musical performance by multi-instrumentalist Andrew White will lead to a panel discussion about the experimental and self-created artists in DC. The panel will explore the unique locations they occupy, and the perspectives they share. Participants in the panel include Andrew White, Bill Warrell and Blair Murphy. Marc Minsker will moderate. Join this free discussion at the Goethe-Institut on January 23.

Everything Is Illuminated

Based on the best-selling novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, this hilarious stage adaptation tells the story of a young man, also named Jonathan Safran Foer, who sets out to find the woman who might or might not have saved his grandfather. Accompanied by an old man haunted by memories of the war, a dog named Sammy Davis, Jr. Jr., and a young Ukrainian translator who speaks in a sublimely butchered English, Jonathan takes a quixotic journey into an unexpected past, where reality collides with fiction in a heart-stopping scene of extraordinary power. Get tickets for this production playing through February 4 at Theater J.
