Embassy Row Tours

Washington's Massachusetts Avenue, also known as Embassy Row, is home to a multitude of ambassador's residences and other edifices that serve DC's diplomatic community. During the Gilded Age, this neighborhood was where the nouveau-riche flaunted their fortunes; howevever, only 50 years later, embassies and other institutions bought their mansions. Learn more about Embassy Row by joining Washington Walks for a tour on Saturday mornings at 10:00 am through November 30. The two-hour tour is $20 per person, no reservations are necessary.

Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy and learn about the arts. This summer, wherever your travels take you, take a chance and take in a show that's different from your favorite genre. Whether it's Cape Cod's Cape Playhouse or Virginia's Wolf Trap, the fare is generally light and the price is right. Museums may offer blockbuster shows and art galleries are always a good place to learn about what inspires an artist and how a piece is created. Even the most formal venues offer cool, less expensive programs to help beat this summer's heat. Enjoy!

Seriously Funny

The exhibit Seriously Funny explores the impact Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" had on American politics and the press through four presidential campaigns. A centerpiece of the exhibit is Stewart's desk from "The Daily Show," donated to the Newseum after Stewart's final appearance on the late-night series. This is one of the Newseum's final exhibits before it leaves its downtown building at the end of the year. The exhibit is on display at the Newseum through December 31.
