Groundhog Day at Dupont Circle Park

Join Dupont Festival and the national groundhog Potomac Phil on Sunday, February 2, at the Dupont Circle fountain to find out whether to expect six more weeks of winter or an early spring. Potomac Phil will make an appearance and offer weather and political predictions. In addition, participants in Groundhog Day may enjoy live accordion music, polka dancers, a puppet show, and more. Potomac Phil will emerge at approximately 8:30 am. This is the 8th year that Phil has made his prediction.

Cultural Tourism DC promotes opportunity. We take great pride in providing programs that help people learn about international destinations and expectations they can have if they visit. During Passport DC, embassies highlight arts, crafts, dance and distribute tastes of their indigenous foods. Locally, we disseminate information to help you spend your leisure time at events that entertain and inform you. We promote the activities of our Affiliates and invite all cultural organizations in the region to post their events on our calendar. But sometimes, it is nice to just stay home and spend time with friends. It is all right to enjoy chicken wings served with a special sauce to be the cuisine du jour. It's fine to have a craving for a pizza. Hmmm. It must be Super Bowl weekend. Enjoy an American icon of culture.

Embassy of Costa Rica

The Embassy of Costa Rica is located in northwest Washington, DC, between the Kalorama and Dupont Circle neighborhoods. Costa Rica and the U.S. have maintained diplomatic relations since 1851. Today, Ambassador Dr. Fernando Llorca Castro leads those efforts, as well as the programs that engage DC area residents and visitors. For the past two years, the embassy has participated in Passport DC's Around the World Embassy Tour, where visitors may learn about Costa Rica's culture, history and environmental tourism industry.
