World's Fair at the DAR Museum

Experience the excitement, innovation, and wonder of a 1900 World's Fair at the DAR Museum on Saturday, August 3 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Learn about inventions that thrilled fairgoers and play games enjoyed by children and adults alike at these grand events. Celebrate cultures around the world by exploring the booths of local embassies and cultural centers. Fun for the whole family, this event is not one to miss!

Folger Shakespeare Library

The Folger Shakespeare Library is an independent research library on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. It has the world's largest collection of the printed works of William Shakespeare, and is a repository for materials from the early modern period. The Folger Shake Up Your Saturday family programs are free and take place the first Saturday of every month. Family members of all ages are welcome to join the fun! Folger Theatre is the centerpiece of the Folger Shakespeare Library, producing plays reflecting the library's collection.

Step Afrika Workshop and Performance

Bring the family out to the St. Elizabeth East Summer Event Series for an evening of stepping with Step Afrika! Step Afrika! is one of the top ten African American dance companies in the United States. Step Afrika! kicks off the 2019-20 season with a step workshop and performance on Friday, August 2 at 6:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, the artists take the stage for their first feature performance. This free event is family-friendly.


Over the Line

See the exhibit Over the Line with works by Andrea Fried, Guigui Kohon, Joyce Werwie Perry, and Judith Pratt at the Zenith Gallery. An opening reception is Thursday, August 8, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Click here to RSVP. The Zenith Gallery has established roots in the nation's capital and with artists and collectors across America. This vibrant exhibit is on display through October 12. 


Ginny Ruffner: Reforestation of the Imagination

Ginny Ruffner is a glass artist based in Seattle, and known for her elegant sculptures and mastery of glass techniques. Ruffner has created work that combines traditional glass sculpture with Augmented Reality (AR) technology to create an interactive viewer experience. The exhibit Reforestation of the Imagination is on display at the Smithsonian Renwick Gallery through January 5.
