Embassy of Uruguay

The Embassy of Uruguay is one of more than 45 embassies that will invite the public inside to learn about the histor, culture and cuisine during the Around the World Embassy Tour on Saturday, May 5. The embassy is located at 1913 I Street, NW Washington, DC.

On Wednesday, May 2 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the afternoon in the 'Salón de las Artes' of the Embassy of Uruguay, the Uruguay Cultural Foundation for the Arts will host ts 2018 Silent Auction to raise funds for the development of its cultural activities. The Uruguay Cultural Foundation for the Arts is a non-profit foundation dedicated to the promotion and support of Uruguayan artists while working to establish cultural links with organizations in the United States .

 

Taste of 8th

More than 20 Barracks Row restaurants will serve appetizer sized samples of their best-known or newest dishes on Saturday, April 28 from 1 pm to 4 pm. Most people purchase a pack of 5 tasting tickets to sample their favorite 8th Street restaurants. Day-of tickets will be $25 for 5 tasting tickets. Sales benefit Barracks Row Main Street's year-round work to maintain a clean, safe and beautiful community for residents and businesses.

 

Volunteer Capitol Hill

Join us at Hill Center for Volunteer Capitol Hill 2018 on Saturday, April 28 and learn about volunteer opportunities throughout the area. Organizations that recruit volunteers at this annual event can help you learn how to make an impact in your neighborhood, in your city, or simply in the life of one of your neighbors down the street! Volunteer Capitol Hill is an annual event designed to showcase a variety of opportunities for volunteer service. The event benefits members of the community by helping them match their skills and interests to the needs of nonprofit organizations. Cultural Tourism DC will participate. See you there!  

 

Franciscan Monastery Herb and Plant Sale 

The Franciscan Monastery hosts its annual Herb and Plant Sale on April 28 and April 29. Come early for organic herbs, annuals, perennials, fruit trees, vegetables, monastery-grown plants and honey, while enjoying food and craft vendors. Free garden tours will be held Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm, and Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm. Proceeds from this special event support preservation of the monastery's historic gardens, beekeeping program and community vegetable program, which supplies fresh produce to those in need through partnerships with local food non-profits and parish food pantries.
