Child of the Civil Rights Movement On January 18, celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a special story time at the DC Public Library. Author Paula Young Shelton will read her book, Child of the Civil Rights Movement, live on the library's Facebook channel. Shelton is the daughter of Andrew Young, who worked with Dr. King. The event kicks off DCPL's new series "Our City, Our Stories,' which will feature two virtual programs per month, one of which is a literary event presenting authors from or books about Washington, DC. | |

It is a 501(c)(3) organization operating a local initiative of the DC Main Streets program, funded in part by the D.C. Department of Small and Local Business Development. Their mission is to preserve and restore the diverse, historic environment of Shaw's 7th and 9th Street commercial corridors, offering residents and visitors a better place to live, work, shop, play, and pray. | |
