Winternational

Enjoy the holiday season with an exciting celebration showcasing the cultural and culinary traditions of Washington's diplomatic community. Hosted by the Ronald Reagan Building and the International Trade Center, the 2020 Winternational festival is a virtual marketplace featuring embassies and their artisans selling handicrafts, visual arts, decor and other gifts from around the world. This free event focuses on connecting the community with the different cultures represented by participating embassies. The festival is on Monday, December 7.

The United States Botanic Garden (USBG) is a botanic garden on the grounds of the United States Capitol near Garfield Circle. The Botanic Garden is supervised by the Congress through the Architect of the Capitol. It is the oldest continually-operating botanic garden in the United States. Join the U.S. Botanic Garden as they continue their December holidays concerts online. The concerts premiere at 5:30 pm on the USBG Facebook page and YouTube channels. The U.S. Botanic Garden has expanded holiday decorations with adornments, lights, and greenery on display at the Terrace Gardens and Bartholdi Park through January 10.


Dupont Circle Main Streets Holiday Pop-Up

Experience the Historic Dupont Circle Main Streets (HDCMS) 4th annual holiday pop-up on Saturday, December 5 from noon to 5:00 pm. This event places artists and makers in front of retail shops around Dupont Circle and inside the Dupont Underground. Visit approximately 30 vendors to purchase everything from jewelry and pottery, paintings and scarves to ferns and chocolates for your holiday gift giving. You can also purchase a meal after shopping.


Downtown Holiday Market

Operated by the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) and Diverse Markets Management, this year's market covers over two entire blocks of F Street NW, from 7th to 9th Streets, NW. The Downtown Holiday Market (DHM) is a one-stop winter wonderland with gifts for everyone on your shopping list, with items including arts, crafts, and jewelry offered by over 70 exhibitors. The Market Screen presents a musical feast of more than 30 virtual musical performances at 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm each day. This market continues through December 23 from noon to 8:00 pm. An Insider's Look Into the Past and Future of the Museum of Islamic Art

Join the Qatar America Institute for Culture and Dr. Julia Gonnella, director of the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, for a virtual webinar about the Museum of Islamic Art Tuesday, December 8 at 12 noon. Designed by I. M. Pei, the museum opened in 2008, and is built on an island off an artificial peninsula near the traditional dhow harbor. It  features over 14 centuries of Islamic art in the Arab States of the Persian Gulf. The collection includes metal work, ceramics, jewelry, wood work, and glass obtained from three continents dating from the 7th to the 19th century.

An Evening with Molly Murphy

Attend an online musical performance from singer-songwriter, Molly Murphy with Van Ness Main Street. Molly will perform seasonal holiday tunes as well as songs from her newly released EP. A solo act, Molly has been described as a young promising songwriter with a big heart by music industry professionals. Her voice and style has been compared to Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez. Tickets to this show are $25, and the event is Thursday, December 10, at 7:00 pm.
