Situated in northeast Washington, the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land contains replicas of Holy Land shrines, as well as Roman catacombs. Free garden tours are held every Saturday at 11 am and noon; tours are lead by docents from the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild. |  Community Block Party Join the annual Community Block Party at the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum on Saturday, September 29. The event begins at 11:00 am with live music performances, arts and crafts, vendor marketplace, community information tables, food trucks, and more! There will be free shuttle service to and from the Anacostia Metro Station. Merchandise vendors from neighborhoods represented in the current exhibition, A Right to the City (Shaw, Anacostia, Adams Morgan, Brookland, Chinatown and Southwest DC) will attend, and local community organizations will host information tables as well. |  Art All Night: Made in DC Art All Night: Made in DC is Washington, DC's free overnight arts festival. The event starts at 7:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, and continues until 3:00 am the following morning. The festival takes place in six DC Main Streets neighborhoods, and brings visual and performing arts, including painting, photography, sculpture, crafts, fashion, music, dance, theater, film, and poetry, to indoor and outdoor public and private spaces, including businesses. This free event is held rain or shine. RSVP here. |  Gandhi Jayanti Join the 149th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi in the Golden Lotus Temple, across the street from the Gandhi Memorial Center, on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:30 pm. Special remarks will be offered by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy, and by the Director of the Gandhi Memorial Center. Devotional music and dances will be performed in commemoration of the life message of Mahatma Gandhi.
