Embassy of Guatemala

The Embassy of Guatemala in Washington, DC is located at 2220 R Street NW. Earlier in May, the embassy and its staff welcomed visitors during Around the World Embassy Tour. The Embassy showcased cultural performances, including marimba music, an exhibition by documentary photographer Fran Antmann as well as displays of Guatemala´s textiles. On May 17, the Embassy also competed in the Events DC Embassy Chef Challenge. Among the other area programs the Embassy supports is the Embassy Adoption Program with DC Public Schools.

Dupont Underground presents Kaleidoscope, the art of Brian Falkowski, a DC-based musician, composer, and multimedia artist. The exhibition displays Falkowski's philosophical approach to creating art by finding new ways to convey the fluidity of ideas. He uses constantly changing lenses of musical textures and visual framework to create a collection of video projections put together over five years of experimentations with sound, color, and motion. The exhibit opens Friday, June 1. Tickets are available now.

One Big Home

On June 2 at the National Gallery of Art, see  how architecture, zoning, and renovation affect Martha's Vineyard in the film One Big Home. The number of outsized homes has been on the rise in Martha's Vineyard, affecting the island's unique character. Twelve years in the making, One Big Home documents this trend. Thomas Bena is a carpenter and self-taught filmmaker who has lived on the island for decades. At various stages in the film, Bena turns to his own house-rebuilding project, and his debates about whether to tear down or restore provide some of the film's more surprising views.

Titanic The Untold Story

In this new exhibit at the National Geographic Museum, you can learn about the link between a secret Cold War mission and the 1985 discovery of the sunken Titanic. Through investigative work that was only recently declassified, fascinating details surrounding the ship's discovery have been unveiled. Be one of the first to hear this untold story. This exhibit is on display though January 7, 2019.
