National Cherry Blossom Festival

Each year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, DC. The gift and annual celebration honor the lasting friendship between the United States and Japan. The Festival is the nation's greatest springtime saluteThe 2018 National Cherry Blossom Festival, March 20 through April 15, includes four weeks of events featuring diverse and creative programming that promotes traditional and contemporary arts and culture, natural beauty, and community spirit.


The Winter's Tale

Transporting us from Sicilia to Bohemia and safely home once more, Shakespeare's spellbinding tale of jealousy, prophecy, and redemption celebrates the magic of story-telling and the power of forgiveness. Directed by Aaron Posner, this production shows at Folger Shakespeare Theater from March 13 to April 22. Designer Luciana Stecconi has constructed mystical sets for this spellbinding production that is sure to awe audiences this spring.


Annual Environmental Film Festival

The longest-running and largest environmental film festival in the U.S. shares with viewers the state of our environment and what we can do to maintain its health. More than 100 movies will be screened at venues all over the District. The festival will also include discussions and social events that inspire dialogue about the films and their important themes. Many of the events are free and open to the public. Check the website for a full schedule. The film festival begins March 15 and continues through March 25.


Pink Tie Party

This event stylishly marks the end of winter and the official beginning of cherry blossom season. Attendees will enjoy the delicious food highlighting DC's culinary scene, an open bar, unique entertainment, over-the-top-decor, and the friendly competition of the silent auction. The Pink Tie Party raises funds for the National Cherry Blossom Festival. The event is Thursday, March 15 in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Get your tickets today!
