Dance Collaborative Winter Showcase

The DHH Dance Collaborative is back for a third season of exciting, cutting-edge choreography and heartfelt passion as its dancers present its Winter Showcase. The show features new works, choreographed and performed by the company's dancers, all of whom are adults with varying levels of dance expertise. DHH Dance Collaborative specializes in jazz, ballet and modern dance. See the performance at Joy of Motion Friendship Heights this Saturday, January 27, 8 pm, and Sunday, January 28, at 7 pm.

Grupo Corpo

Wednesday, January 31, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center will present Grupo Corpo, the premier contemporary Brazilian dance company. The group uses modern dance as a platform for experiencing a mix of Brazilian and the dance styles of samba, capoeira, xaxado, ballet, Afro-Brazilian and ballroom.

Hypnotic movements, athletic suspensions and gravity-challenging floor work will mesmerize audiences in Suíte Branca. The second piece of the evening, Dança Sinfônica, is a collage of ballets and musical bridges celebrating the troupe's decades-long history. The performance is accompanied by original instrumental music by Samuel Rosa.
