 | |  Freer | Sackler The Smithsonian Institution has two museums of Asian art: the Freer Gallery of Art opened to the public in 1923, and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, welcomed its first visitors in 1987. Both are connected by an underground passageway, and linked through the study, exhibition, and love of Asian art. In addition, the Freer Gallery contains a collection of 19th century American art punctuated by James McNeill Whistler's Peacock Room. Currently closed for renovation, The Freer | Sackler will reopen on October 14 at 5 PM. | |  |  National Symphony Orchestra: Carpenter Plays Copland Cristian Macelaru conducts an all-American program featuring organist Cameron Carpenter, pairing Copland's Symphony for Organ and Orchestra and Appalachian Spring Suite with Bernstein's Divertimento in honor of the late composers' famous friendship. The Kennedy Center hosts three performances from Thursday, September 28 to Saturday, September 30. |  Human Landscapes The Organization of American States (OAS) AMA | Art Museum of the Americas in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the OAS and the Embassy of Argentina in the United States present Human Landscapes, an exhibition of photography and video curated by Andrés Duprat, Director of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, and Fernando Farina an indepdent curator. This exhibit is on display from September 28 to November 26. |  Wine Auction at Arena Stage Arena Stage will host a live wine auction on Tuesday, October 3, at the Mead Center for American Theater. The evening kicks off at 6:30 PM with a sparkling wine reception and silent auction. It is followed by a five-course seated dinner catered by Design Cuisine with wine pairings and a live auction at 7:30 PM.
