Brookland, African American Heritage Trail

Brookland became a popular neighborhood for middle-class blacks after World War II, when racially restrictive housing covenants were ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1948. All of the individuals highlighted in the this tour have connections to Howard University.
