The Greater U Street Neighborhood Visitor Center is conveniently located next door to Ben’s Chili Bowl, across from the U Street metro, 1211 U Street NW, and is the perfect spot for both visitors and residents to start exploring the Greater U Street area.
The visitor center serves as a front door to the U Street area, a historic African American neighborhood in Washington, DC. The Greater U Street Neighborhood Visitor Center features maps, shopping and dining information, and other helpful information about the neighborhood. On the walls are historic photographs, quotations, and a timeline that highlights the major developments in the neighborhood and in the city.
To learn more about U Street's storied past and how it got to where it is today, walk the City Within a City: Greater U Street Heritage Trail and download the accompanying audio tour.
I would like to take the time to thank you for the support provided to our organization, Latin Fashion Week. The event was a huge success thank to the cooperation of company like Cultural Tourism DC and people like you.
