Love is in the air – along with lust, betrayal and surprise – this Valentine's Day as SpeakeasyDC presents its fifth annual love-fest of autobiographical stories, Sucker for Love, on Febuary 10th and 11th at Dance Place. Washington audiences have fallen head-over-heels for this show year after year, and this year, they can also swoon to music by DJ Glowstik at a dance party following the February 11thperformance.
This edition of Sucker for Love features nine wildly diverse stories, offering an enchanting night of entertainment. While it's true that couples will enjoy a fantastic date night by attending the show – sparking much more excitement than a box of chocolates – singles and groups of friends will find plenty with which to relate. With stories of affairs gone wrong, bad romantic choices and valiant attempts to save a dying relationship, everyone can identify with the pleasures and perils of being a sucker for love.
The stories and performers in Sucker for Love include Beth Flores who found sexual tension bubbling over at the hands of a sexy stylist, Carol Scott wondering if mortal men can compete after dating Jesus and Travis Wright dabbling in the terrifying Tennessee teenage world of dating. These performers join fellow castmates and storytellers Geraldine Buckley, Luis Contreras, Mark Pagán, Alex Petri, Anne Thomas and John Tong.
Sucker for Love contains adult content and is intended for mature audiences. For more info on the show, visit www.danceplace.org or www.speakeasydc.org
