Celebrate National Poetry Month with ten diverse and talented authors from Washington, DC. Full Moon on K Street: Poems about Washington, DC features 101 contemporary poems that capture the District’s unique sense of place, from monuments to parks, from lawyers to bus stations, from go-go music to chili half-smokes. Edited by Kim Roberts, the collection has been published for the tenth anniversary of the acclaimed online journal, Beltway Poetry Quarterly. Roberts writes, "This anthology is my love letter to Washington, DC. There have been many anthologies featuring poets from the region, but nothing else like this exists: a poetic portrait of this vibrant, frustrating, wonderful city." The Washington Post writes, "The first anthology of modern poetry to be wholly for, about and by current and former Washington residents--teems with poets who've distilled the region's lifeblood into verse over the past 50 years."
The ten featured readers are: Reginald Dwayne Betts, author of the memoir A Question of Freedom; Carleasa Coates, winner of Cave Canem and Soul Mountain fellowships; Donna Denize, chair of English at St. Alban's School; Sunil Freeman, Assistant Director of The Writer's Center; Deidre R. Gantt, teacher at Prince George's Community College; Mary Ann Larkin, co-founder of Pond Road Press; Saundra Rose Maley, co-editor of James Wright's correspondence; David McAleavey, professor of creative writing at The George Washington University; Joseph Ross, co-editor of the anthology, Cut Loose the Body; and Dan Vera, co-founder of Vrzhu Press and managing editor of White Crane.
