The National Museum of American Jewish Military History. From the ancients to the moderns, most historians come at the field from the perspective of their own ethnicity or nationality. At best, it provides a window into their own culture. At worst, it descends into ethnocentrism, or simple falsehood. This lecture will discuss modern ethnic history as a genre, and then demonstrate its use with a discussion of the experience of Jews in the American military. The first part in this series is titled
"Ethnic History and its Discontents - Part I - Jews in the US Military". Admission is free. Bring a lunch!
