The Mexican Table Cooking Series with Patricia Jinich is back for its fifth year!  Join us for this ongoing series of culinary adventures, as we travel through time, regions and topics surrounding you with Mexico's colors, flavors and hospitality! Each event will underscore why Traditional Mexican Cuisine was inducted to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in November of 2010 and will include an entertaining demonstration followed by a sumptuous dinner served with wine, beer and music. As a souvenir, you will take home recipes and some ingredients to get you started cooking at home.

A Culinary Compass on March 15 will take us on a tour of all four corners of Mexico in one evening. From the Northern region with simple and hearty grilled foods to the ethnic richness and wide array of ingredients in the South; from the exotic Eastern Gulf Coast to the long Western Pacific shoreline, Mexican flavor is everywhere. Join us on a taste of the signature flavors from four culinary regions in Mexico.

Cinco de Mayo: A Celebration on May 24 will explore history behind the celebration and feature a poblano feast. It is no secret that Cinco de Mayo is a much bigger celebration in the US than in Mexico. This class will explore how and why the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, marking its Sesquicentennial in 2012, has become a celebratory occasion in the US and will feature a distinct  menu to commemorate the anniversary of a truly  transnational celebration.

A Taste of the Maya World on October 18 will highlight the unique flavors of the Yucatan Peninsula, which boasts a cuisine so distinct from the rest of the country that it occupies its own universe of flavors. Explore how a pumpkin seed sauce can enhance regular enchiladas, savor Venison marinated in a bitter orange sauce and learn why there is a dessert called “poor gentleman” that can make anyone a wealthy patron.

Street Food! on December 6 marks the return of one of our most popular programs from 2010 featuring the famous street fare in Mexico City. Mexican Street Food, here we come! Send us any special requests with advance notice and we will do our best to incorporate them into the already long list of favorites. Come ready to grab a plate and hop from stand to stand in traditional Street Food style.
