National Building Museum. Derived from the French term béton brut, the Brutalist movement in architecture is characterized by a predominant use of raw concrete and blocky forms. Susan Piedmont-Palladino, National Building Museum curator and architecture professor at Virginia Tech's Washington Alexandria Architecture Center, explores this form of architecture that many love to hate. $12 members and students; $20 non-members. Price for three lectures in the series: $30 members and students; $50 non-members.
