"Hanami Festival...Through the Eyes of Seniors" celebrates the memories of seniors aged 85 to 105. The seniors tell stories of the early years when the Cherry Blossom trees first arrived in Washington. Through reminiscence theatre, you will experience memorable moments and events with the men and women who lived them. The stage production will be preceded by a VIP reception featuring a performance by Suzuki violin students ages 4 to 8 years old.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival is the nation's greatest springtime celebration. The 2012 Festival, March 20 – April 27, includes five spectacular weeks of events featuring diverse and creative programming promoting traditional and contemporary arts and culture, natural beauty, and community spirit. The 2012 Festival commemorates the 100th anniversary of the gift of the cherry blossom trees and the enduring friendship between the United States and Japan. (www.nationalcherryblossomfestival.org)
