September 15, 2011 - 6:30pm - 8:30pm

Join your fellow gamers to try out the brand-new scenario for Settlers of Catan: "Climate Catan." New resources and new rules put a spin on the classic board game, Settlers of Catan (by Klaus Teuber), to allow us to interact with the issue of climate change.

Will you create tremendous growth and climate change, destroying the island of Catan, in the name of winning? Can you win without ruining the island? Players will debate these issues while enjoying spirited competition.

Before you play, learn how the game was developed and discuss the scenario with co-designers Erik Assadourian and Ty Hansen. After a round of Settlers, head into the museum's new Earth Lab for an increased understanding the science of climate change that underlies the game.

Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended. For tickets, contact the Koshland Science Museum at (202) 334-1201 or ksm@nas.edu.

Fee:
$5 ($3 for students)
