If you defined the USA by its achievements, no definition would be complete without the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the Emancipation Proclamation, the New Deal, and the Civil Rights Act. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Martin Luther King, Jr. - the five great men behind these great achievements. These 5 memorials are located on what's known as the "Line of Leadership"- we call it the Big Five.

From the cherry blossoms at the steps of the Jefferson Memorial, the breadline at the FDR, beyond the stone of hope at the MLK, and overlooking all of DC from the seat of the Lincoln Memorial -take in the best views of the city and soak it all in. This tour covers about 1.25 miles and also goes around the famous Tidal Basin, where amateur and professional photographers alike frequently flock.

No list of things to see in DC is complete without the 5 major stops on this DC memorials tour.

Major Sights on this tour:

-Washington Monument

-Jefferson Memorial

-George Mason Memorial Gardens

-FDR Memorial

-MLK Jr. Memorial

-Lincoln Memorial

-Tidal Basin

Tour meets in the square field on the southside or the roadside of the Jefferson Memorial at 1 East Basin Drive SW. Guide will be wearing a bowtie and have a DC Walkabout sign/shirt and an umbrella. Please call 202.421.4053 or see DCWalkabout.com for more information. Have fun!
