The Exceptional Everyday showcases the dynamic and witty work of nine contemporary Norwegian industrial designers. Each object in the show tweaks a seemingly mundane object or process and, in doing so, creates an exceptional experience. Kristine Bjaadal’s Underfull Tablecloth, for example, transforms an everyday annoyance—spilled beverages on a white tablecloth—into a magical moment. The spill causes a butterfly pattern rather than a stain. While the objects in the show exemplify the rigor and attention to detail typically associated with Scandinavian design, they also embody creative collaboration with the user.
There would be a Reception on January 18, 2012; 7–9 p.m.
“The DC Jazz Jam is a wonderful opportunity for jazz lovers to join together and celebrate this great American art form. Musicians and appreciators young and old alike come out to Dahlak to listen, create and improve. It’s a great, friendly atmosphere."
