Dumbarton House. Why host jazz at ca. 1800 Dumbarton House? To celebrate the museum's early 20th-century history! The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America purchased the home in 1928, on the eve of the great Depression, and struggled to raise the funds to open it as their national headquarters and a public museum in the first years of the serious economic crisis. The museum opened in 1932 -- as the Jazz Age was coming to a close but jazz was continuing to evolve in America and beyond. This series is in partnership with The International Club of DC.
