Church Service: 9/11 Remembrance Service at the National Cathedral

The noon service this Saturday, September 11, will be offered in recognition of the ninth anniversary of the attacks of 9/11. Prayers will be offered in memory of the lives lost and affected.

At the start of the service, Washington National Cathedral’s Bourdon Bell will toll nine times, marking the ninth anniversary of the attacks. The Bourdon Bell (funeral bell) is one of the 53 bells comprising the Cathedral’s carillon housed in the “Gloria in Excelsis” central tower, which rises 300 feet above the ground.

What: Intimate Holy Eucharist service with prayers for the victims, families, and those affected by the tragedy

When: Saturday, September 11, 2010, noon

Where: Washington National Cathedral great choir, 3101 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
