August 31, 2010 - 11:00am - October 17, 2010 - 4:00pm

BG Muhn’s first installation work is an ambitious and stunning series of invented “portraits” of mythical Chinese empresses. Using techniques ranging from deadpan official Chinese portrait style to composing a face out of hundreds of houseflies glued to the canvas, Muhn uses the work as a metaphor to reveal the dark side of human nature.

Muhn will speak about his work at a gallery talk on Saturday, September 11, at 5 p.m. in the American University Museum.
