Italy's 150 Years on Exhibit at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC
The Embassy of Italy in Washington is hosting an exhibit on "Regions and Testimonials." The exhibit reconstructs the journey of art in Italy from the unification to the present in a sequence of three artistic periods. The country’s artistic history is thus recaptured chronologically as well as geographically through a selection of works representative of the regions of Italy, which illustrates the tensions between unity and diversity that has always led the country’s evolution.
Among the works on display of particular note are "I Morticelli" by Francesco Paolo Michetti (1880), "Alto paesaggio d'acciaio" by Fortunato Depero (1926), a 1947 still life by Giorgio Morandi, and "Gimana" by Umberto Mastroianni (1987-88).
The “Regions of Italy” exhibit will remain open until October 30. It is open and free to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm. The Embassy of Italy is located at 3000 Whitehaven St. NW, Washington D.C.
