The International Spy Museum (SPY) reveals the secret history of history through the lens of espionage. Its mission is to educate the public about espionage in an engaging way and to provide a context that fosters understanding of its important role in and impact on current and historic events.More than 600 artifacts, 900 archival photos, two hours of audio/visual programs, as well as 15 mechanical and computer interactive displays are integrated in dramatic settings.

SPY brings to life the stories of the men and women intimately involved in this clandestine world, from the earliest days of intelligence gathering to the present day. The exhibits showcase the tradecraft of espionage through stories about the individuals, techniques, tools, and missions that affected some of the most pivotal moments in world history.

SPY houses the largest collection of international espionage artifacts ever placed on public display. These artifacts, created by or for intelligence services around the world, have been obtained from a variety of sources including private collectors worldwide.

In addition to its notable collection, SPY offers a variety of ongoing events for visitors of all ages, including scavenger hunts for young sleuths, a speaker series, and bus tours of DC's famed espionage sites. Spy in the City offers a GPS guided walking missions in DC’s Penn Quarter neighborhood. Operation Spy, an intense one-hour experience for ages 12 and up, combines live-action, themed environments, special effects, and hands-on activities like cracking a safe and conducting a polygraph test of a suspect agent.
