DC In Black, an African-American owned tour company, was started in the Washington, DC area, to fill the need for scheduled tours to historical African -American sites.

African -Americans were a part of Washington, DC’s history from the very beginning--as illustrated by Benjamin Banneker, the African American who surveyed and laid out the Federal Territory for the Capitol City. African-American contributions have been abundantly prevalent in Washington, DC. Historically, African-Americans have held prominent places in DC Politics, Entertainment, the Arts, Education, and Business. DC has been a choice location for movements, marches and seeds of change. Because of this, many people of color have been drawn to this city, held high positions, and left their mark in the History of America.

Since many sites are spread throughout the city, we implement the intimacy of the experience by using small mini buses. Our tours are equipped with monitors, which provide the ultimate in visual- aid to assist in enhancing your tour experience. We are educational yet maintain the ambiance of a private family-style tour. We also provide a tour for the art lover, designed around visiting a number of privately-owned art galleries in the city, featuring both local and nationally known artists.
