The rapidly increasing interest in art in DC and the proliferation of new art businesses have resulted in a correlative focus on the importance of the role of the responsible art dealer.

It is the dealer who usually discovers and exhibits the work of emerging artists. It is by the dealer's effort that such artists are brought to the attention of collectors, museum curators, and the public.

Dealers' exhibitions, which are generally open free to the public, are among the most important cultural contributions to the city. Each of the members of the Washington Art Dealers Association is an experienced and knowledgeable professional in the category of art he or she sells, and warrants the confidence of the community.

In addition to holding regular meetings, its participation in a variety of art fairs, and publishing its own quarterly newsletter, the Washington Art Dealers Association sponsors activities such as group exhibitions, discussions, and symposiums.

Testimonials

This tour delivers the goods.  Being raised just outside of washington d.c. (Bethesda), I've gone on innumerable DC sightseeing tours in my lifetime.   Every time a family friend or relative visited from out of town meant another trip down to the Mall, another sightseeing tour.  Monument tours, ghost tours, "Duck" tours, you name it I've done it.  But out of all the DC tours I've been on this was one of the best.  I went last weekend with my nieces and nephews on the Capitol Hill tour, which lasted a little over two hours.  The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable of the historic sites and presented the information in a fun and lively manner.  His enthusiam for the subject was infectious.  He had my nieces and nephews in rapt atttention from start to finish.  Highly recommend.
