If you're looking for variety and funk, you'll find it night and day along 18th Street.
Here unique specialty shops, used bookstores, and art galleries intermingle with more than 35 restaurants, bars, and nightclubs that cover almost every international flavor – Ethiopian, African, and West African; Chinese and Vietnamese; French, Italian, Hispanic, and Mediterranean; Caribbean, Mexican, and Peruvian. You'll also find American specialties that range from New Orleans and the Southwest to Soul Food and Jewish Sabbath challah and matzoh balls.
Each September people from all over the city come to 18th Street for the Adams Morgan Day festival. The diversity of this neighborhood is celebrated with live music and a wide variety of ethnic foods and crafts offered by the community.
