Experiences that enhance the city’s historic, cultural, and natural assets as well as promote pride and appreciation for what is authentically Washington. See Washington’s Famous Attractions

Washington, DC is home to some of the most recognizable attractions in the world. Among them are the U.S. Capitol, White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, National Cathedral, historic neighborhoods and homes, large and small museums like the Smithsonian Institute and the Textile museum, and the National Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. These and many other notable sites await exploration in America’s Capital City. 

Attend Events

Cultural Tourism DC’s events offer stimulating and educational slices of the city. Join us at events designed to celebrate our Nation’s Capital, its unique culture and history, and all that it has to offer.

International DC

DC is home to more embassies than any other city in the world, giving DC a truly international flavor. Get a taste for the world outside our borders by attending a wide range of cultural events, activities, and attractions offered by the resident embassies and cultural centers.    

Culture Kids

Culture Kids are activities and events that are specifically targeted to children or are family friendly.   From festivals and museums to children-focused plays and productions, Culture Kids offers fun activities for your whole family.

Visit Historic Neighborhoods

Many of DC’s historic neighborhoods are cherished geographical parcels that make the city whole. Varied in architecture and ethnicities, foods and historical footnotes, our neighborhoods have distinct personalities, but together are the heart of our city.

Walk/Bike a Trail or Take a Tour

Wander Washington neighborhoods via inviting trails punctuated with informative and entertaining historic markers. Or if you prefer to explore on wheels, bike your way through Washington’s neighborhoods and trails. If you'd rather take the more formal route, guided and non-guided tours are available. Self-guided tours are offered through our Heritage Trail program. Guided tours are available by foot, bike, bus, Segway or boat.
