Cultural Tourism DC Presents Third Annual Art4All DC Celebration
Highlighting arts and humanities programs with six signature events

 

Washington, DC (September 12, 2014) — Experience Cultural Tourism DC's Art4All DC: One City, Four Quadrants, Arts Activated, a three-week arts and humanities festival taking placeSeptember 26 to October 18, 2014. In its third year, Art4All DC will feature six signature events, including the Rhode Island Avenue NE PorchFest in the city's northeast quadrant.

The festival is a celebration of more than 100 arts and humanities events highlighting music, theater, dance, and fine arts across each quadrant of DC.Participants will engage with artists at gallery openings, music and theater performances, visual art exhibitions, collaborative neighborhood programs, humanities discussions, dance workshops, and more.

 "Art4All DC reflects the palette of Washington's vibrant arts environment. The festival expresses the color, music, dance, spoken word, and many textures of the city's established and emerging arts and humanities programs," said Cultural Tourism DC Executive Director Steve Shulman. "With its setting in all four quadrants of the city, Arts4All DC will engage residents and visitors and may surprise them with the amazing creativity performed and on display. It is a wonderful, non-intimidating showcase for what's here and suggests what the future holds for the arts aficionado."

ART4ALL DC 2014 SIGNATURE EVENTS

ACTIVATED!—Art4All DC Launch Party, September 26,6 p.m. to 8 p.m., The Plaza at CityCenter. Join Mistress of Ceremonies and spoken word artist Nina Brewton, rising star and singer-songwriter Marshall Sims, and other artists as they offer a taste of Art4All DC. Tickets are available hereand include entry and two drink tickets. Signature cocktails and appetizers will be provided by Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House and DBGB Kitchen and Bar. Art All Night: Nuit Blanche DC, Sept. 27-28, 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., various locations. Based on a festival concept that began in Paris, France, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities presents a night-long event that offers area residents and visitors an exciting opportunity to engage and enjoy an eclectic mix of music, activities, and visual and performing artists.

FIGMENT DC, Sept. 27-28, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.,Anacostia Skating Pavilion. FIGMENT DC invites everyone to a free, non-commercial weekend of creativity and community. An opportunity to play and learn together, FIGMENT DC is also a chance to create a magical playground for artists and dreamers of all shapes and sizes.

SW ArtsFest, October 2–5, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 400 M Street, SW. The District's smallest quadrant presents one of the area's largest neighborhood arts festivals. SW ArtsFest offers a weekend of art-centered activities that will encourage participants to explore the booming SW quadrant and its various art producers.

Rhode Island Avenue NE PorchFest, October 4,  3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Rhode Island Avenue, NE. Rhode Island Avenue NE PorchFest celebrates local talent by turning the front porches of neighborhood homes in surrounding NE into performance spaces where local musicians play for the community. Presented by Rhode Island Avenue NE Main Street and Cultural Tourism DC.

Adams Morgan PorchFest, October 18, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Adams Morgan Neighborhood, NW. Inspired by its success last year, the Adams Morgan PorchFest will again create a family friendly, neighborhood-based alternative to the nightclub music scene, bringing in a range of musical styles from Brazilian, Irish and jazz to indie rock, children's music, and even Egyptian Nubian folkloric. Presented by Adams Morgan Partnership BID and Cultural Tourism DC.
