ABOUT US

The Republic of Uzbekistan declared September 1, 1991 the Day of Independence. The new country appeared on world map and its priorities were to establish a free democratic society and to develop a market economy.

The United States was among the first countries to recognize the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The diplomatic relations were established on February 19, 1992, and the first Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the U.S. opened in February 1993.

The Embassy offers consular services and maintains a comprehensive website providing current information regarding news and events related to Uzbek culture and politics.

In February 2010, His Excellency Ilhom Nematov assumed office as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the U.S.
