World's Fair at DAR Museum

Experience the excitement, innovation, and wonder of a  World's Fair circa 1900. Do you know what foods debuted at the Columbian Exposition? Or what games children played? Learn about the inventions that thrilled fairgoers and sample the popular foods. Celebrate cultures around the world by exploring the booths of local embassies and cultural centers at the DAR Museum on Saturday, August 12. Fun for children and adults alike, this event is not one to miss!

 

Otakon 2017 Convention

Founded in 1994, Otakon is an annual convention held in the summer months to celebrate Asian pop culture and its fans. The 2017 event runs from Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 13 in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and features anime, cosplay, manga, music, movies, video games, and much more! Click here for the Otakon Convention activities.

 

Omani Cultural Evening

Culture comes alive at the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center on August 17 for an evening of immersive Omani culture. This annual celebration will feature live music, food, and crafts for all ages. There is free admission for the cultural evening event, but you must RSVP by August 14.

WalkingTown DC is Cultural Tourism DC's longest running program. It is a nine-day festival of lunchtime, happy hour, and weekend tours of DC's neighborhoods. The 2017 edition will run from Saturday, September 16 through Sunday, September 24 and will include more than 50 top quality tours.
