Steven Jumper is the director of corporate public policy for WGL Holdings, Inc. and a resident of Washington for over 20 years. He is also the Chairman for the Downtown DC Business Improvement District. His love for D.C. began the day he moved to Washington to begin his career in the District government, where he later served in cabinet-level positions for two D.C. Mayors. His first home purchase was one block off of H Street, NE, now one of the most popular evening destinations in DC. He says, “Sometimes, I just drive by my old house, wishing I still owned it.”

Cultural Tourism DC asked some notable Washingtonians to share with us their favorite places or events that are special and unique to DC.

Here are Steven's five:

  1. Rock Creek Park - Simply a jewel in an urban setting where I can relax my mind and spirit and it’s just blocks from my home.
  2. The Hamilton - This is a new one to my list, for its live entertainment downstairs.
  3. Rooftop of 101 Constitution Avenue, NW - For view of the Capitol and fireworks.
  4. E Street Cinema - I enjoy E Street Cinema for its variety of independent films and its great ambiance.
  5. Black Salt Restaurant - at the bar for happy hour.
