Playwrights and performing artists interested in space and mentoring at the Mead Theatre Lab may submit original plays, classic material with an innovative vision or work that combines multiple performance disciplines for the 2012-2013 season. Proposals are due November 1, along with a $30 application fee. Artists will be notified in early 2012 if they will advance to Phase II of the process. The final decisions will be made in the spring.
Performing artists, playwrights, producers, musicians, dancers, choreographers and filmmakers, along with past and current participants may apply. Selected applicants cannot participate in the program more than two seasons in a row.
Artists’ proposals are considered based on the artistic merit, originality of the work, experience of the artist, capacity to execute, and the viability of the production. Select artists participating in the Mead Theatre Lab Program may be awarded up to $3,000 from the Creative Communities Fund.
All applications can be submitted online: https://secure.jotform.com/form/12301138211
This tour delivers the goods. Being raised just outside of washington d.c. (Bethesda), I've gone on innumerable DC sightseeing tours in my lifetime. Every time a family friend or relative visited from out of town meant another trip down to the Mall, another sightseeing tour. Monument tours, ghost tours, "Duck" tours, you name it I've done it. But out of all the DC tours I've been on this was one of the best. I went last weekend with my nieces and nephews on the Capitol Hill tour, which lasted a little over two hours. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable of the historic sites and presented the information in a fun and lively manner. His enthusiam for the subject was infectious. He had my nieces and nephews in rapt atttention from start to finish. Highly recommend.
