The Cultural Center of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has launched a call for proposals from arts and cultural institutions to fund small-scale cultural development projects in Latin America and the Caribbean through its grants program. In 2011, 24 community-based institutions from 23 countries were selected to receive grants – which can range from US$3,000-7,000 - under the program. Applications are due by January 31, 2012 to the IDB offices in 26 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Cultural Development Grant Program was created in 1994 to promote development of projects that promote local knowledge, tradition, revive cultural heritage and value, support artistic excellence and contribute toward community development through economic and social activities in innovative and sustainable ways.
