Circulator Bus Expands Neighborhood Reach

October 21, 2011

Recently, the DC Circulator bus system has undergone a few significant changes. At the beginning of October, several routes were added to accommodate additional neighborhoods.

Added
• New bus route east of the Anacostia River. The new route runs through neighborhoods like Capitol Riverfront, Capitol Hill, Barracks Row and Anacostia. Riders of this route can hop off and see the Tour of Duty: Barracks Row Heritage Trail.

Changed
• The Union Station-Navy Yard line has been rerouted to create a more direct path to Union Station.
• The Georgetown-Union Station and Dupont-Georgetown-Rosslyn routes combined or eliminated some stations, which may add an additional block’s walk to the bus stop, but will also speed up bus service and aid in keeping buses on their 10-minute-interval track.
• Riders on these bus routes can visit the Civil War to Civil Rights: Downtown Heritage Trail and the Midcity at the Crossroads: Shaw Heritage Trail.

Ended
• The Convention Center-SW Waterfront route is out of service on the DC Circulator buses, Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority bus line 74 will cover a similar route, but will operate on a different schedule.
