SURE, BLAME SNOWMAGGEDON for not leaving the couch all winter. Stretch those pale, atrophied legs by signing up for WalkingTown and BikingTown DC. The biannual event, organized by Cultural Tourism DC, offers more than 100 pedestrian and cycling tours throughout the city. Excursions range from the unapologetically nerdy (a bike tour of Ward 3 solar homes, an outing elucidating the geology of Brookland) to the wholly unwholesome — such as "Rowdies, Madams and Painted Women: An Adults-Only Tour of Hooker's Division," a bawdy exploration of the former red-light district near Federal Triangle.
» Pre-registration strongly encouraged; May 22-23, free; Culturaltourismdc.org.
"I looked at the new brochures for the Deanwood and Civil Rights Heritage Trails. I am always astonished and amazed at the work you do and the quality of it. Beautiful."
