Job Posting - Media and Publications: Communications Associate

Cultural Tourism DC (CTDC), a small nonprofit with a friendly, flexible, and hard-working atmosphere, seeks an experienced, creative, and detail-oriented individual with excellent written and oral communications skills to manage CTDC’s media relations and publications.

CTDC is a nonprofit coalition of more than 230 arts, heritage, cultural, and community organizations throughout the nation's capital. We help metropolitan area residents and visitors experience Washington's authentic culture and heritage.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify/implement outreach opportunities and secure media coverage, including but not limited press, television, radio, and web, to promote CTDC’s brand, its programs, and events

  • Develop and maintain relationships with members of the media and community on behalf of the organization

  • Field requests for information about CTDC

  • Write, edit, and proofread content for CTDC publications

  • Write talking points for staff speaking engagements

  • Develop PowerPoint or other visual presentations

  • Manage photographer/videographer vendors at CTDC events and programs as appropriate
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (in English, communications, journalism, or public relations preferred)

  • Two to five years’ professional experience in public relations, preferably in a non-profit setting

  • Sincere enthusiasm for Washington’s culture, and heritage

  • Must be an excellent writer and editor

  • Strong interpersonal communications skills essential

  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence

  • Initiative

  • Position requires occasional weekend and evening work

  • Indesign experience a plus
