Chief Kenneth B. Ellerbe is a 27-year veteran of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department and now leads its 2,200-members. He is pursuing a PhD at Howard University in Political Science after receiving a BS and MPA from the University of the District of Columbia. Cultural Tourism DC asked some notable Washingtonians to share with us their favorite places or events that are special and unique to DC.

  1. Rock Creek Park - A great cool place in nature; I love to walk there.
  2. Haines Point - Golf! You can see more historic monuments from this golf course than any other one in the area.
  3. Ben’s Next Door - Great food, great atmosphere, great management, and great people!
  4. Gallery Place - I love the movie theatres and the revitalization of the area.
  5. Smithsonian Museums - I love the diversity, the history, and the convenience.
