Charles "Chuck" Hicks is a prominent member of the DC Black History Celebration Committee which celebrates black history throughout the year. He is also the founder of Bread for the Soul, an HIV Aids organization which provides toys and books for Christmas to children whose parents have AIDS, and to children who are diagnosed with AIDS. He is a community laborer and activist. He is a member of the Commission on Aging, co-chair of the DC Host committee for the Dr. Martin Luther King Citywide Host Committee and is widely recognized for his support for the Arts.

Cultural Tourism DC asked some notable Washingtonians to share with us their favorite places or events that are special and unique to DC.

1. African-American Civil War Museum - Why? It instructs about the African/American role in the fight for our freedom
2. Frederick Douglass Museum – It shows the history of an outstanding African/American and his leadership during the time of slavery.

4. DC Public Library programs - Arts, Crafts, Poetry, Computers, Exhibits – great programs for different age groups.
5. The many museums and galleries in the city that highlight the history, culture, and more.
